GIVE YOUR HEART A BREAK
It's 18 today (Manila time). The lines here are almost perfect, but the 9th and 10th line hit the most. Right?:)
Thank you for appreciating me at my lowest. For knowing me despite uncertainties. For making me feel loved and important, for saving me.
I was browsing some few skype conversations and I was so insensitive not to notice one of your messages: "You are not very vocal and I understand, but maybe one of these days, you could use your blog to write about me". And then I wondered now, are you even checking my Tumblr? Lol.
But anyway, here's a challenge for you. I believe somewhere or another you'll get to read this, so here it goes:
You've probably known me at that moment when trusting someone has been VERY difficult - you didn't give up. You didn't even judge me, you didn't even force me to speak up about my past. You just proved yourself worthy.
You are not the kind of guy who can join me and my 'sociable activities' as how you call it - but you stepped out of your comfort zone and even applied my 'party tips' there in NY. I was kinda amused when I saw your photos.
You are the type who eats a lot, which makes me happy because you exceed my appetite, which lessens my insecurities for being chubby... err... voluptuous.
You work hard and would always strive to be the best that sometimes other people may misunderstood you. You made me realize the value of being brave on making tough decisions...
Decisions... if there's one thing I admire about you, that is you have always been brave. Leaving your past work, fighting for me, leaving the country, it's overwhelming.
I am sorry for being quiet. For not being able to tell you words you want to hear. For making you feel taken for granted. I just probably lost that faith on love and trust somewhere along the way. I made you a casualty of a past battle. I am sorry.
Thank you for all the time and effort, both when you were here and now that you're there. Right now, I just feel undeserving of your love. I'll be dealing with myself here, I'll try to ponder on things, and I know you have your own struggle there too. I hope our little conversations can compensate your homesickness and stress at work. Though I know they're not enough.
I am sorry for being less of what I should be as a partner. You have no idea how I am dealing with it now.
Lastly, if certain circumstances happen to us, to you or to me, we both know it's part of God's plans. Please take good care of yourself there. Don't drink too much, and I know you don't. I am happy to meet your party friends there though, but like I told them, work hard then play not a little too hard after, LOL.
Thank you again and happy day to us!

SAUL BASS: HIS GOOGLE DOODLE, TITLE SEQUENCE AND JAGGED HAND
The moment I saw the paper cut-out animation on today's (May 08) Google doodle, I knew it was a tribute to the great American graphic designer and filmmaker Saul Bass (1920-1996). Today happens to be his birthday, he should be 93 years old by now.
Saul Bass is best known for his movie title sequences, film posters and corporate logos. Being a frustrated graphic designer and filmmaker made me know him before actually. I was just browsing from different popular designers and I happen to stumble upon some of his works.
I like how he was known for notable movie title sequences and probably even setting a benchmark after he died. I really love his paper cut-out animations, simple yet playful, 2d animations for the win! Some of the best movie title sequences that he made, and I also personally like, are "Anatomy Of A Murderer", "Vertigo" (the part where the camera zooms in to the eye still freaks me out), "Ocean's Eleven" (the way it was done at that time, where softwares for animation's still limited, is so impressing!), "Casino" (i think this is the last one he made, he used different Vegas lights and played with it, brilliant!), and the best for me is "It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World" (the transformation of the globe still amuses me).
- The Google doodle's inspired by his title sequence for the movies (in order): Psycho, The man with the golden arm, Spartacus, West side story, Vertigo, North to northwest, Anatomy of a murderer, Ocean's eleven, Around the world in 80 days.
I do agree that 'best movie title sequence' should be included in the Oscars category, because some movie title sequences are better than the movies!
Saul Bass also made a name for his numerous logos and movie posters. Some of the logos he designed are for: AT&T, Bell Telephone, Hanna- Barbera, the old Quaker, Warner Communications, and many more.
I love Saul Bass' minimalist approach on his movie posters, minimal designs still impress me as I am yet to really understand when too much is too much. That retro / vintage vibe, minimalist, use of primary colors, the jagged hand, paper cut-out typography, all of these reminds us of Saul Bass.
Because his movie poster designs (and his style primarily) made a mark already, a tumblr page was even made featuring films and tv shows' posters derived from Saul Bass' designs.
All of these photos are from the said tumblr page: enoughwithsaulbassalready.tumblr.com, the url's funny right? Haha! And yup, the owner did use the Saul Bass inspired "Vertigo theme" for tumblr!
Thanks Saul Bass for leaving a great inspiration to many of our graphic designers, animators, and filmmakers. Yes again, PLEASE, do include 'best movie title sequence' on award giving bodies for film. It is really one of those I look forward to in a movie (next to the soundtrack), hello James Bond films!
High five to your jagged hand Saul Bass and happy happy birthday!

SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA ONE LAST TOUR: MANILA
![]() |
| we came, we raved, we loved! |
I wasn't able to update my blog because of the busy schedule. Good thing I still have the hangover to share Swedish House Mafia's awesome party!
The trio went to Manila as part of their One Last Tour leg held January 16th, at the MOA Arena. Same as David Guetta's Nothing But The Beat tour here in Manila, the place is filled with elites, free spirited bunch of yuppies, south kids, and of course those who appreciate good pumpin' beats like me.

Swedish House Mafia is an electronic dance music trio composed of three dj's namely Axwell (my favorite!), Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso. That moment I found out last year that they'll be here 2 weeks before my birthday, I quickly said to myself that I have to have a pre-celeb partying with them. Which I did get, of course ;)

| SHM One Last Tour #swedishhousemafia #onelasttour |
Will forever love how dj concerts play with the lights, led screen and other gimmicks to make their performances one hell of a party itself! I both loved Guetta's and SHM's concert, although I enjoyed SHM in terms of the 'rave factor'. I remembered being busy singing with Guetta's music, I almost forgot to rave and dance, lol. Steve Angello wasn't able to join the two though because he got sick due to food poisoning. Nevertheless, the crowd still enjoyed Axwell and Sebastian's set.
My favorites from Swedish House Mafia would definitely have to be Greyhound (swabe from start to end), One, Save The World Tonight, and yup Don't You Worry Child. Got a video in youtube for the song. Chills on 4:52, lol with "sit down Manila"!
And here's a video of the finale. I really thought they wouldn't play Save The World Tonight anymore, almost got disappointed. Good thing they saved an awesome one for last!
Also thanks to Ms.Divine Lee for the wonderful message! One of the reasons why I love her to death!! :)

NCAA88 BEDA VS. LETRAN FINALS
![]() |
| Late post. I look like a flag, para safe :P Grats beda! Cheers still @kevinlouiealas ;) #ncaafinals (Take with Instagram) |
Remember my first post about this year's NCAA, where I mentioned my hope on seeing two of my favorite teams (San Beda Red Lions and Letran Knights) on the finals? Just imagine my joy when it did happen this season! I was on my way home from work when my friend texted me the good news that Letran Knights won over San Sebastian Stags for the finals spot. Not to offend anyone, but I really don't want to see Baste on the finals.
Compared to the Red Lions though, I am more passionate on cheering for CSJL Knights. It all started with my frustration of studying Advertising there, to unexpectedly gaining friends from the school, to joining their annual Adspeak competition, to working in the events agency a group of Letran alumni built... and to almost dating one. San Beda on the other hand shared some good influences too. Mainly that their building is just across my school, San Beda students and I also shared almost the same memory of the everyday road, food, and "tambay" experience. Because of proximity and connections, I was also able to gain Bedista friends. Let's not include the dating part as it will just remind me of Mendiola immature kilig days, haha! In short, both schools left me with good impressions, but Letran was closer to heart.
The Knights and Red Lions rivalry was tagged as the Green Archers - Blue Eagles of NCAA. Both colleges showcased competitive rankings on the past decades, not just basketball. Their rivalry started way back 1950 when they met for the first time, in the finals. Before this year though, the last time they saw eye to eye in the finals was five years ago, 2007! So again, just imagine how thrilled I was for this year!
I was kind of skeptic towards Letran's victory at first, but realizing the winning moves of Raymond Almazan, Mark Cruz... and of course, my favorite Kevin Alas (scoring an all-time NCAA Final Four high total of 43 points) I became hopeful that they can, or might, get the championship title for this season.
The finals started last October 18 for Game 1, at the MOA Arena - San Beda Red Lions won. Game 2 was held on October 20, this time at the SMART Araneta Coliseum - CSJL Knights won! I was praying on Game 2, calling for a game 3, and was literally slapping the shoulders of my companion on the left. The 3rd Game happened last October 26, again at the Araneta Coliseum... the Lions won. I can't remember the look on my face, just seeing the 67-39 score is depressing. But the best part with my favorite rivals on the finals though, is that I still can get to celebrate the opponent's victory! Haha!
The red crowd was crazy of course. The cheers, the drinks, the 'kantyawan' after, were crazier! Yet I still feel for Kevin Alas. Good job for Mark Cruz too, my childhood crush / your brother Marvin Cruz (former player of UP Fighting Maroons) must have been so proud of you! Going back to Kevin 'Ace' Alas, hehe... I hope to get a picture with you next year, in the finals! Law of attraction, Letran Knights will be in the finals for season 89! Hoping for another Beda-Letran face off! Yes Stags, please keep those horns away from the limelight again.

A MONTH AND CHANGES

Thank God Habagat's torture finally came to an end. Unfortunately our house became one of the flood's resting place during that time. Again thank You for saving my shoes, bags and clothes haha! The flood inside's only below the knee, something to be very grateful for compared to those whose houses were completely washed out. Cleaning it is another story though, HAGGARD! Kudos by the way to MMDA, and social media. Compared to Ondoy, I must say that this time, we had fewer casualties and quicker rescues!

Decided to switch career, and I guess this is one of the major changes this month. I still have clients affiliating with my service, and pending tasks to deliver though. Anyway I'm currently quite anxious with the new, but if I would stick to my plan and priorities, I know I can do it. I just hope pavements won't be too harsh on me :)

This month had 2 long weekends, one is for Ramadan and the other one is Nat'l Heroes Day. It was truly the perfect time to release those stress and experience the sweet escape!<3

There are other changes that I would rather not post online :) This is just a quick run down on how my August and its changes went.
Let me use this space as well to say THANK YOU and goodbye to DILG secretary Jesse Robredo. You are one of the very few who showcased good governance. It is very unfortunate that we have to lose the best and languish with the worst. I would be very skeptic with the new DILG secretary, as I am disappointed with the new chief justice - Maria Lourdes Sereno. Seriously? I've heard many 'corruption' stories related to her before! Good luck to that Pnoy!
Each month, each week, each day, each minute, until to each milliseconds is accountable to changes. Be brave enough to cope with it, be wise enough to create it.

QUIRKYNESS
UPPER LEFT: Recently purchased fabric accessories.
MIDDLE LEFT: Purple tassel necklace.
LOWER LEFT: Previous purchase of tassel and connector accessories.
All from Quirkypedia! Yay colorful :)
Quirkypedia is created by one of your favorite fashion blogger Khai Nunag.

I have been a fan of this online store for a couple of years already, and it never failed me! They constantly change themes and styles, from cross to ribbons, from connector bracelets to multiple-way accessories, from feathers and tassels, from detachable collars to turbans, and from fabric accessories and stacked bracelets / arm candies.
I got to know Quirkypedia because of their connector bracelets and multiple-way necklaces, which happens to be my fave too. I was curious on how those things work, and became a fan after that.
Connector ring-bracelets are bracelets with connectors to your fingers to serve as rings.

Multiple-way necklaces are necklaces of different purposes! Yup, it can be styled into a bracelet, to another style of necklace, to a hippie band, or connector ring. This one in particular is one of their Infinity necklaces, which can be worn in SO MANY WAYS... creativity is limitless!

What I really like about the two styles is that you are not just paying for a single item, coz it's more than your usual bracelets and necklaces!
Another thing that made me love this shop, is its colors! Yeah I love colored accessories, just too eye candy to resist. Check their many uber cute vibrant and pastel colored designs!
Derived from the word quirky (meaning odd, peculiar, unique), Quirkypedia does offer some unconventional accessories that may strike others. I remember getting certain comments from my workmates whenever I wear some of its quirky stuff. The earrings-necklace accessory got the most weird stares, haha. Imagine a necklace with feather earring on each end, so instead of locking it around your neck, you just hook it on both ears and tada... a necklace and earrings in one! My workmates thought it was a gold headset haha!
They also have an increasing number of celebrity customers: Laureen Uy, Julia Montes, Yeng Constantino, and Cristine Reyes, to name a few.
Do check their affiliate store for clothes too: Quaint Culture!
So, would you like to be part of one of today's quirky trends on fashion accessories? Browse Quirkypedia and grab yours now!

WEEKEND SMILE
Sudden tagaytay trip from a new found ideal ride (i love SUVs).
Singing ‘We Found Love’ (Rihanna) and ‘Gettin Over You’ (D. Guetta) on the way.
Embracing the cold temperature while drinking cocktail shots.
Visited the ever darling stars and just enjoyed the over looking by pondering on the things that transpired and feeling blessed for the present.
Reached manila 4 hours after.
To complete the weekend: On the next night, gave bouncers a ride (they came from a club and about to transfer to another one) and pretended to be associated with them to get in the place for free… then made some ninja moves to the dj’s booth to give a demo! It was, yet again, a very spontaneous night. Driving, dancing, “acting”, hai, I still choose the ‘chill’ weekends. Haha!
I don’t do clubbing anymore. I love to dance but I don’t like strangers bumping and grinding with me!
But still, both days are a-ok! I couldn’t have done this months ago. I missed having fun without having to worry about someone being mad at me for the activities I’m engaged to.
Weekdays will be quite busy again. So, till the next weekend love :)

THANKS MIAMI HEAT - HELLO NCAA
I can say that I am somewhat a basketball fanatic... before. I lost the interest when I started being busy over school and then eventually at work. But UAAP and NCAA's intense spark still manages to tickle me once in a while. I prefer to use the word tickle as their players do play a big part of that interest, lol! I can still remember a very teenybopper post back in 2005: this! I enjoy watching basketball games live, the drumbeats' wild, and the people are crazy! Watching basketball to cheer your significant someone is my favorite, the way you would silently cheer and hope he gets those 3 points, and would loudly shout his name once he does <3
And going back to NCAA, hate to admit it but it looks like I'll be rooting for San Beda Red Lions this season, though I am a forever Letran Knights fan. But since Letran's the host for this year, and San Beda only has 6 players to start, maybe the Knights can bring their way back to the finals. Yes, I choose to disregard San Sebastian Stags as the possible contender. I don't like them. Period! I miss cheering for Mapua Cardinals, gone are the times of kelvin dela pena. Luckily my two fave team in NCAA, SBC Red Lions and CSJL Knights, remain to be two of the popular among the 10 teams. They were also dubbed as the ateneo-la salle of uaap. Being the two schools of good winning stats and rich ncaa history. Again, let's all be oblivious with SSC Stags alright? I saw Calvin Abueva in person, from last year's finals, and that gave me more reason not to like the team, lol peace :) I am curious with the newer teams from: EAC, Arellano & Lyceum, will they be just another ncaa basketball team or will they surpass the glory days of Beda, Baste, and Letran? I highly doubt it, but who knows.
The NCAA would be covered by TV5's sports channel AKTV on IBC 13 starting this season. I have to get used to it after their decade-old partnership with Studio 23. Today's the start of the ncaa basketball games with Letran vs. San Sebastian at 5pm and JRU vs. Mapua at 7pm. Tomorrow, Beda with only 6 players, would go against Arellano at 2pm, GO BEDA FIGHT!

HAPPY PAPA'S DAY
happy father's day to one of the country's pillar of media broadcasting. It used to be my dream to achieve at least half of what he attained, but with the rate i'm going, I think I need to trace a gradual, rather steep, path hehe. And I know he'll still be proud of me even if I don't venture the same field... same way as how proud I am to be his daughter!
Writing about my dad reminded me of a past friend. He was the latest person I talked to about him, I rarely talk about my dad to other people actually. Anyway, one of his last message to me is to continue striving to be like, or greater, than my dad - an insincere message by the way. Considering those conversations we had about career, I realized that maybe I can try to open up to my dad directly, right? More like 'take it from the expert's' perspective. No pressure, well hopefully. I hope all parents can be like that, coz trust me, it's really hard to follow a great footstep!
Papa's quite old already, and i think it's about time to brag about him naman kahet pano, he deserves it! So I want to introduce him to today's generation of comm.students -> http://www.asianjournal.com/aj-magazine/midweek-mgzn/4196-one-of-philippine-radios-superstars-ben-aniceto-qthe-golden-voiceq.html :)
PS: The last line on his email touched me. I hope so too pa! Wait for my wedding day! I love you <3

HARD RAIN
cuervo, bacardi and sanmig night. took advantage on the bacardi since the other two mentioned would just make me sick. Only had few shots of tequila and a half bottle of sanmig. I prefer hard liquor mixes than that.
Went around kowloon house after, and ended up having my good old fave... KEBAB! VERY perfect way to end a very splendid night. like a boss!
Had minor headaches after eating though, but so what, I didn't get drunk! I constantly check my alcohol intake when I am not with someone I am secured with, mindless if you can drive me home... coz you won't get to drive me home mister.
Anyway, just posted something random before sleeping... and it's raining again! Perfect time to hug my big pillows :) I just find it ironic that rainy days, esp.rainy nights, make me smile. I love this weather... and with drinks on the side? why not! ;)
PS: HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY PINOYS!

BEC.I DIDN'T EXPERIENCE SENIOR'S NIGHT
Became my niece / inaanak's stylist , hair, and make-up artist for her senior's night :)
Our batch in HS is the only batch w/o a gradball or senior's night bec.we were said to be the worst batch DAW. We also don't have a gradpic and yearbook, hmph. hehe. So I was so excited for Dana's time to enjoy her last partey in HS!
She's so tall, like 5'7 already? And she's only 16 this year. She'll be taking up Tourism in UST... course for tall girls anyway, hehe.
After being her fairy godmother, I went to St.Jude, then met with a friend to grab some milk tea, and then fetched her up before midnight. I am such a good ate.. haha :)
PS: temporary grad gift ko muna yan, while buma-bum pa si ate ;)

RIP STEVE JOBS
Just imagine what you have contributed to the world. It's like having a monument to each households! I am amazed on how you achieved so much, at a very young age. I guess you have served your purpose here already. Thank you for changing how we listen to music, how we communicate, how we exhaust technology!
Your name may not be familiar to some, but all your contributions would always be much appreciated and enjoyed.
You turned a small irritating animal into a very (and I mean very) useful tool... the mouse. And of course, you made a one of those usual fruits, into a world wide brand of sophistication, portability and pleasure... Apple!
Thank you Steve! I am very sure that the Lord would be very delighted to experience the wonders of your iPad =)

TINGALA SA BABA
TINGALA SA BABA
One of the short films in Nestle’s Kasambuhay sa Habambuhay.
This is my favorite among the 10 films. A light satire that depicts the lopsided life of the rich and the poor. I personally like how they used the seesaw as an instrument of power and humility. No need for big stars and for complicated settings. Brilliant script. Kudos Sir Henry Frejas =)
I hope our mainstream-commercial movies would focus more on a good script, rather than on love teams and trying hard horror flicks.

NO STRINGS ATTACHED
(Ashton Kutcher , Natalie Portman)
"No strings" means no jealousy, no expectations, no fighting, no flowers, no baby voices. It means they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, in whatever public place they want, as long as they don't fall in love. The question becomes- who's going to fall first? And can their friendship survive?
